Top divorce myths experienced by Suffolk Solicitors
Navigating through the emotional minefield of divorce is often a difficult process – and one that can be complicated further by uncertainty and misunderstanding when it comes to the legal implications involved.
Urban legends surrounding nightmare break-ups, expensive court cases and shock settlements only serve to muddy the waters further.
Indeed, there are a myriad of myths and untruths surrounding divorce and issues related to separation, many of which are regularly raised with me and the rest of the family lawyers here at Gotelee.
Will my spouse’s share of the assets be reduced because they were unfaithful? Will the other parent be prevented from seeing our children because they won’t pay child maintenance? Am I entitled to assets that are in my spouse’s name?
So in an effort to ease concerns and set the record straight, we have produced a short film dispelling a handful of the most commonly-heard divorce myths. Issues around the adultery, child arrangements, assets and common law rights are all covered in the video.
Of course, the film covers only a few areas – so if after watching you still require guidance or clarification, do get in touch and we can help further.
Our family law team boasts a wealth of experience and will work with you to ensure you receive practical support, including advice on how to get divorced, and the timescale, cost and implications for financial arrangements.
