Celebrity divorces are often acrimonious affairs – but the separation of Gary Lineker and wife Danielle Bux has been anything but.

The couple announced this week that they had ended their eight-year marriage, having been granted a decree nisi at Southampton County Court.

Despite their split, there wasn’t an ounce of bitterness, with both Lineker, 55, and Bux, 36, revealing to their legion of Twitter followers that they remain close friends.

The couple’s decision to go their separate ways isn’t in itself unusual, of course. January has been ominously dubbed ‘Divorce Month’ thanks to the volume of applications to separate at this time of year.

An extended period of time spent together over Christmas coupled with the financial pressures the festive period can bring may prove the catalyst for a break-up.

According to one recent poll, one in five married couples consider separating immediately after the holiday season.

But while divorce is never easy, avoiding acrimony and hostility – much like the example set by Lineker and Bux – makes the process far more bearable.

Gotelee’s expert team of family lawyers always work with clients to avoid unnecessary disputes and the costly remedy of battling it out in the courts, thus bringing about a swift conclusion to proceedings. Put simply, an amicable divorce is always the best outcome for both parties.
