Pushing for perfection
As local solicitors, we are continually cultivating and developing the skills and expertise our lawyers can offer to Ipswich, Felixstowe and Hadleigh. We have seen a number of recent developments enabling them to deliver better services to individuals.
Chris Moffat, a Chartered Legal Executive in the Medical Negligence Team at Gotelee Solicitors, has had her membership of the Law Society Medical Negligence panel extended by 5 years to 2020.
Only 350 lawyers in England and Wales have the necessary expertise to qualify for this panel. The robust selection criteria are designed to ensure that only lawyers with solid experience in this specialist area of the law can qualify.
Tim Humpage, partner at Gotelee Solicitors and Head of the Medical Negligence Team, said “as well as adding to the strength of the Medical Negligence Team at Gotelee this is a well deserved recognition of the hard work and dedication Chris has shown over many years in helping her clients cope with the often life changing consequences when medical treatment goes wrong”
Mark White, another member of the team, has recently completed the CILEx Level 6 Graduate Fast-track Diploma. Mark joined Gotelee Solicitors with a law degree and for 2 years he has been in the Medical Negligence Department working on live negligence cases. During this busy time he has also studied to become a Legal Executive. Tim Humpage says “It is an arduous task working full time in this role and studying for the CILEx Level 6, so Mark has done extremely well achieving this qualification. We are a local firm which believes in growing our own skilled and local lawyers, Mark is recognition of the good local talent we have here at Gotelee and I am confident he will have a long and successful career with us”
Mark plans on furthering his development while continuing to work in the Medical Negligence department prior to starting his LPC part-time in September next year. Mark says “Gotelee has been very supportive of me during my CILEx qualification and it’s been really helpful combining the practical side of learning with the theory. The next step for me will be becoming a Chartered Legal Executive”.
In another area of the business, Family Partner, Ivana Radovic has recently completed the Resolution Foundation Mediation training which will enable Ivana to assist couples who are in the process of separating or have separated from one another to resolve issues through Mediation as an alternative to Court proceedings. Due to changes in the law, Mediation is a preferred alternative for many couples to potentially expensive and lengthy court proceedings. Couples can discuss and resolve arrangements for their children, financial and property matters, including civil partnerships. Ivana says “I’m really looking forward to building a strong mediation practice at Gotelee and improving my knowledge and skills so as to be able to better support clients in all aspects of their relationship breakdown, be it unmarried or married couples. ”
Alistair Lang, CEO says “we are here for the local community and our aim is to be able to offer the best possible service and advice. Encouraging our home grown staff to continue to develop their skills and qualifications is just one step in achieving that goal”
