Graduated from Cambridge University with a Masters in Law, joined Gotelee in 1978 and qualified in 1981 – man and boy with one firm!
I worked in the sector for two years before arriving at Gotelee and qualifying as a solicitor. I really understand the Transport Sector, both the legal and regulatory framework and also how transport operators work and think..
I act for companies, partnerships and individuals who hold operator licences authorising the use of trucks and coaches. The regulatory side of this work is governed by EU rules and is complex. As part of this specialism, I assist my operator clients in resolving disputes. I have a well established track record in resolving disputes to the satisfaction of clients.
The 24 hour, 7 day per week contact that I offer to my clients is unique. One client was heard to comment “It felt like Jonathan Ripman would die in a ditch for me” which tells me that clients in this sector really appreciate getting my advice when they need it.
In the Legal 500 2009 I was described as “a good ambassador and networker” and praised for my technical knowledge and down to earth approach.
When I am not at Gotelee, I am a husband, father, grandfather, marathon runner, school governor and charity trustee.
