Tanya Thomas

Graduated from the University of St Andrews in 1987 and qualified as a solicitor in 1992

I assist clients, particularly the elderly, to plan for the future and put their affairs in order by taking out Lasting Powers of Attorney.  I assist families making applications for Deputyship to the Court of Protection and I advise in relation to care fees and NHS Continuing Care Applications. I act as a professional Deputy and attorney and manage the property and affairs of clients who lack capacity.

I have special expertise in acting for clients who lack mental capacity and who are suffering from mental illnesses, including severe and enduring mental illness and significant learning disabilities. Increasingly I am called upon by the Official Solicitor to act for vulnerable adults in health and welfare cases before the Court of Protection.

When I’m not at Gotelee, I’m a keen amateur artist.

"I would not change anything with the service I received.  I have used Gotelee many times.  They have always offered peace of mind and I am thankful to them for being sympathetic to our needs." MF, Ipswich
