Civil Partnerships

The legal position

Same-sex partners who have entered into a Civil Partnership acquire legal recognition of their relationship and also acquire many of the same legal rights and benefits that are acquired by their hetro-sexual married counterparts. The process "divorce" is also similar.

How can we help

Our solicitors can help you bring a Civil Partnership to an end. To do so, it must be legally dissolved by Dissolution proceedings. If you have entered into a Civil Partnership, and you have been registered for at least a year, you are able to apply to the Court for a dissolution of your partnership. If you have not been registered for a year, we can advise on entering into a Civil Partnership Separation agreement, to set out the terms of any financial settlement that you reach before you commence your dissolution.

Next Steps

Contact one of our Solicitors and we will be able to advise you on the issues that will be relevant to splitting finances on a dissolution together a guide to the procedure, timescales and costs.  We offer an initial fixed price interview that our clients find extremely informative and enables you to decide the next step.
