Fixed Price Divorce

How much will a divorce cost?

If your divorce petition is not going to be defended/contested by your spouse and agreement is reached about the costs in advance, our Solicitors will process the petition to the Decree Absolute stage at a cost of £600 plus VAT and Court Fees of £340 (Issue fee) and £45 (Decree Absolute fee).

What do the costs cover?

The fixed price divorce is the cost of issuing divorce proceedings on an undefended/uncontested basis. It involves one of our Solicitors drafting the Divorce petition, drafting your application for the pronouncement of the Decree Nisi and applying for the Decree Absolute to bring the marriage to an end. What is does not include is the cost of having to instruct a Court Bailiff to serve papers upon a spouse who refuses to co-operate, dealing within any disputes about the arrangements for the children and sorting out the financial settlement within the divorce.

Whether a matter is suitable to proceed under a fixed price will depend on several factors the parties being in agreement that there should be a divorce and the reasons for the divorce are agreed. If there are disputes about either of these issues then a fixed price may not be available. We will be happy to discuss with you whether this is the case and alternative methods of funding.

If you have already been to see one of our solicitors on a Fixed Price First Interview we will reduced the Fixed Fee Divorce costs by £50 plus VAT.

How we can help

Many clients are concerned about the cost of a divorce and therefore may be reluctant to pursue this route even though it may be in their best interests to do so. At Gotelee, our Divorce Solicitors are able to offer a “fixed price divorce” to allay client’s fears by providing a clear costs structure from the start. Clients are then able to move on and separately consider any issues relating to financial arrangements or children.
