National Minimum Wage
The National Minimum Wage (NMW) applies to all workers over compulsory school leaving age. The NMW rates differ depending on the age of the worker and whether or not they are in training. If you have not received NMW, we can help you to bring a claim to recover the outstanding sums that should have been paid.
Deductions from wages
Your employer can only make a deduction from your pay in very limited circumstances if:
- The law requires it to be deducted (for example, PAYE deductions for income tax);
- You have expressly authorised the deduction; or
- Your employment contract states that this type of deduction can be made and you have signed the contract; or
- You have signed a separate agreement which allows for the deduction to be made.
