Workplace Stress, Bullying and Harassment

Unfortunately there is an increasing tendency for employees to suffer from bullying and harassment in the workplace. This is unacceptable. Gotelee's team of specialist Solicitors have experts that can advise and support you if you feel you have been bullied or harassed and, in appropriate cases obtain compensation on your behalf.

Harassment arises where a person is treated in a way which violates their dignity or which creates an offensive, intimidating or hostile environment for them. If it is due to a protected characteristic, such as age, disability, gender or race, it will amount to unlawful discrimination entitling you to bring a claim in an Employment Tribunal.

Bullying and harassment can however take various forms and does not necessarily have to be related to a protected characteristic for liability to arise. If you have suffered an illness as a result of the actions of your managers or your fellow employees you may be entitled to compensation through the courts.

Even if there has been no bullying or harassment, employees may have a claim if they have been caused stress or injury to health as a result of excessively long hours or overwork. This may amount to negligence and a breach of the duty of care owed by employers to their employees.

There is an overlap in these cases between Personal Injury and Employment law, however with experienced specialist teams in both areas Gotelee Solicitors are in the best position to advise on the best way for you to proceed.
