Power of Attorney

A Power of Attorney is an extremely important document. They allow you to appoint a representative (attorney) to look after your affairs at a time when you are unable to. This could be as a result of being out of the country, a spell in hospital or mental or physical incapacity.

Our team are able to advise on the most suitable power of attorney document for you and arrange for its preparation.

Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) are very useful to allow your chosen attorney or attorneys to deal with your affairs and questions of your welfare. If you are suddenly taken ill or have an accident then an LPA can alleviate some of the stress and administrative burden on both you and your family. In making an LPA you are giving yourself peace of mind that the right person is looking after your affairs should you be unable to do so.

As part of the preparation of a Lasting Power of Attorney a “certificate provider” needs to confirm that you understand the nature of the document, we are able to act as independent certificate providers.

For more details about the different types of Powers of Attorney, please see our Powers of Attorney – a client’s guide.

We regularly deal with the registration of existing Enduring Powers of Attorneys (EPAs) at the Office of the Public Guardian and can advise on all aspects of registration and your duties as an appointed attorney.

We are also able to act as Attorneys or assist with the day to day management of a persons affairs.

We are able to visit clients either at home, residential home or hospital whichever is the most convenient for you. Please contact us by telephone or email or pop into the office to arrange a suitable appointment
