Gotelee Solicitors LLP is a dynamic and creative law firm that has successfully expanded its practice. A key business strategy is to develop the team of qualified solicitors by recruiting and training personable, enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals who can help to drive our business into the future.
What we offer
We take our training role very seriously. As a trainee solicitor at Gotelee you will be part of a supportive team right from your first induction day and receive quality training and support throughout the 2 year training contract.
How is the training structured?
You will have a pre-planned programme consisting of at least 3 distinct areas of English and Welsh law and practice seats, each lasting at least 3 months. Subject to the needs of the firm and the opportunities available, trainees are encouraged to extend the seat in the area they are most interested in following as a career.
During your training contract you will have the opportunity to work in at least 3 areas of practice chosen from the following:
- Business Law
- Property
- Employment
- Family
- Litigation
- Private Client
During each seat you will work alongside a Partner or Solicitor in the team and you will be assigned a mentor with whom you will meet at regular intervals throughout your training to discuss your progress.
You would attend the Professional Skills Course (funded by the Firm); in addition we hold regular legal skills and update training sessions and trainees are encouraged to attend such training in all practice areas. Trainees are also given the opportunity to attend appropriate external training seminars and courses.
What is it like living and working in Ipswich?
Ipswich is the county town and main business centre of Suffolk, with a population of around 130,000. It is a university town (University of Suffolk) and from both the business and social perspectives it is a lively place to live and work.
Who should apply?
Graduates should have a minimum 2:1 degree in any discipline. Please ensure your CV clearly indicates what grade of degree you were awarded and what areas of law you are interested in. We look for a sound academic record together with a personable and practical approach to work, clients and colleagues. Teamwork is of particular importance.
