Accidents in the workplace under spotlight
Recent figures released from HSE reveal that in 2022/2023 796,000 people suffered and injury at work of suffered a work related illness. This figure is an increase of 25% since 2018/19 figures were released.
However the number of claims made by employees on employer liability insurance fell significantly. The data suggests that of those injured or made ill because of their work environment only 5% made a claim. This is down from 14% in 2018/19.
The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) are carrying out research into why, despite more people being injured, less people are bringing a claim.
Here at Gotelee Solicitors our team regularly advise people who have been injured or been made unwell at work. Often people who come to us are concerned that, in bringing a claim, their employer will treat them differently or seek to dismiss them. In uncertain times it is perhaps the case that people are deciding not to bring perfectly valid claims because of this fear.
If you have been injured in an accident at work that was not your fault or been made ill as a result of your working environment we can advise you in relation to your Injury claim and our employment team can also advise in relation to your employment rights.
