You may have heard in the news today that a ban on the use of hands-free phones could be considered after it was suggested by a group of MPs. According to the Commons Transport Select Committee, using a hands-free device creates “the same risks of collision”.
We have acted for many clients injured by the negligent driving of another person and in fatal accident cases.
In accidents such as these, the use of a phone at the time of the collision is often cited as a cause of the accident and mobile phone records can be obtained as evidence of this when required.
It is tragic that such life-changing events and injuries can stem from just a moment of distraction whilst driving and, as such, we welcome this latest call for a ban on hands-free phone calls to be considered.
