As I watched our middle child, 4, run across this concrete plinth (which has enough of a drop on the other side to still make any parent stifle a ‘be careful!’), I remembered how it was only a few months ago that I had to hold his hand whilst he performed this very task.
It made me think that, as much as a parent wants to protect their child, ultimately we are trying to train and teach them to be independent.
And, in much the same way that our boy told me that he didn’t WANT to hold my outstretched hand, it made me think about my clients; None of them WANT to instruct me. None of them WANT to have to use a lawyer and make a claim. They would much rather be able to return to how things were before their accident and to get on with their lives independent of any lawyers, any medical examinations, any medical treatment or any legal process.
But the clock can’t be turned back and so it is our job to help our injured clients in not only recovering compensation for their pain and suffering but also in getting them the medical treatment they need, the therapy the need, the interim payments they need to cover their financial losses and the compensation they need to cover any future losses or costs that they will incur due to their injury.
It is our job to help our clients get their independence back; to try and get them back to how life was before their accident or as close as possible to that and to set them up so that they can be independent going forwards. I want to see each of my clients go back to walking their path independently, without the need to hold anyone’s hand.
Gotelee has served thousands of clients across this region and recovered millions in compensation and private medical treatment costs for them.
We are here to serve our community and help pick people up when they have fallen due to the negligence of others.
