Sharing your ideas, experiences and concerns about the NHS and social care can help make improvements to health services.
That’s the mantra behind a new campaign – #ItStartsWithYou – which is encouraging people to speak up and help make positive changes.
It’s being run by Healthwatch England, the national consumer champion in health and care, which has already been listening to the thoughts of patients and communities to help drive up standards.
However to make the biggest difference possible, the organisation wants even more people to contribute.
Perhaps you have a view on the care you or a relative received. Or maybe you have an idea on how to help some of the most vulnerable people in society live happier lives.
Among those to have contributed already is Joely Colmer, who has Asperger’s Syndrome. She has worked hard to encourage children and young people to speak up about what they think of local health and social care services. She has shared her own, often painful, experiences to give others the courage to share their story.
Healthwatch invited health and care leaders to an event in March 2017 to share what they’d found and Joely was the main speaker at the event. She made a real impact on everyone attending by giving a powerful speech about growing up with Asperger’s Syndrome.

How can Gotelee help?
If you have been let down by the health system, you may want to consider making a claim. Doing so could result in the person affected receiving the necessary financial help to deal with the consequences of an error, as well as providing closure and helping to ensure the same mistake isn’t repeated.
Gotelee has a wealth of experience in this area and can advise you whether or not you have the basis of a claim. If you do, we can support you through the process at any of our offices in Ipswich, Hadleigh, Felixstowe, Woodbridge or Melton.
