Should everyday be national care home day?

On 20 June thousands of UK care homes opened their doors on National Care Home Day in an attempt to welcome the public, connect residents with their local communities, and change perceptions of care homes for good. This included some in homes in Ipswich, Felixstowe and Hadleigh. All too often stories in the media are about neglect and abuse. Care homes are hoping that this will give them an opportunity to change some of the negative perception that surrounds them.

There are many care homes that do a great job and offer level of care that their elderly residents deserve. However the fact that there is perceived to be a need for a National Care Home Day is surely a sign that all is not well with the way that the elderly and vulnerable are looked after in society. You might think that every day should be care home day.

With all the negative news surrounding care homes, you may be concerned that your relative is subject to or experiencing abuse or neglect in a care home. It is not unusual for family members to feel  worried and  helpless in this situation not knowing what to do or what is best for your loved one. You may also feel anxious as to how you should move forward and expose the abuse in the care home.

As solicitors, we are experienced in dealing with care home abuse claims and can help you and your family. There are often warning signs that there is abuse happening. If you would like more advice please contact James Davies specialist care home and elder abuse claim solicitor. We are based in Ipswich, Hadleigh and Felixstowe.
