A storm of protest has broken out following mega sales author John Grisham observing that not all viewers of indecent images are bad people. Nor should they be gaoled for the lengthy sentences being handed down in the US courts for occasional or inadvertent viewings.
Grisham is clear he favours lengthy sentences for ‘real’ paedophiles but expressed concern about the punishment being meted out to ‘lesser’ offences.
Hugh Rowland at Gotelee has direct experience of helping such offenders and in mitigating the courts’ decisions. A difficult area of law and, rightly, often lengthy sentences are appropriate. But if you have an issue with your web access, inadvertent browsing or even others accessing your computer then Hugh might be worth consulting.
