University of Warwick Graduate Annalise Shelcott Qualifies into Gotelee Commercial Property Team.
Gotelee Solicitors Commercial Property department is delighted to welcome Annalise Shelcott as Solicitor from the 1st of June following successful completion of her training contract with the firm.
Annalise graduated with a degree in law from the University of Warwick in 2015 and used the academic experience to gain a thorough and broad understanding of the law undertaking various charity and pro-bono work. She assisted US lawyers by submitting research to support appeals under the Death Penalty Program. In 2013 she also volunteered at a drug addiction clinic in Zanzibar acting as a counsellor, gaining valuable transferable skills for her future pro-bono activities.
Annalise had already secured a training contract with Gotelee at the time of graduating but was offered a paralegal role in the Commercial Property department whilst completing the Legal Practice Course full time from BPP Law School in Cambridge. Achieving a distinction in the LPC she then commenced her training contract in September 2016 completing seats in Commercial Property, Private Client (from Gotelee’s Woodbridge office), Corporate and Commercial and Family.
Annalise said: ‘I didn’t know exactly which area of law I wanted to qualify into until I started my training and what made it even more difficult was that I enjoyed each seat! Despite this, I loved working with commercial individuals and businesses the most which is why I chose to qualify as a Commercial Property Solicitor. The transactions involved can be wide-ranging and touch upon a variety of legal disciplines, such as corporate commercial and planning law to name a few. I was already familiar with the team having worked in the department as both a paralegal and trainee. It is great that the team keeps growing and that I can now be part of that growth.’

She has a natural ability to build commercial relationships and due to her pro-bono activities is sure to be a very balanced lawyer. Annalise also volunteers as a legal advisor at the Suffolk Law Centre in Ipswich which Gotelee has close ties with. Individuals can book appointments to see her for thirty minutes of free advice on a wide range of issues.
