Wayne Rooney banned after pleading guilty to drink-driving

The conviction and sentence of former England captain Wayne Rooney for driving nearly three times over the limit demonstrates that the court deals with these cases seriously.

Mr Rooney avoided the imposition of a custodial sentence but will have to perform community service. As importantly for Mr Rooney will be the damage to his reputation as he struggles to find his feet with his new club.
