Leading Suffolk law firm Gotelee Solicitors is celebrating its latest phase of expansion with its legal team now serving clients in two new locations – Melton and Woodbridge – as well as an additional office in Felixstowe.
Gotelee, which already has offices in Ipswich, Hadleigh and Felixstowe, reached an agreement to merge with parts of Suffolk Coastal law firm Margary + Miller in February. That merger comes into effect on 1st April 2016, meaning Margary + Miller’s offices in Woodbridge, Melton and Felixstowe will then operate under the Gotelee banner.
Margary + Miller clients in those locations will benefit from a wider range of legal services, and new clients in the area will be able to access the full legal support. Currently, Margary + Miller focuses largely on tax, trusts, wills and conveyancing – however, clients will now have access to the full spectrum of services provided by Gotelee, including family matters, such as divorce and separation, business law, commercial property, employment law and crime, whilst adding further weight to teams dealing with dispute resolution, medical negligence and personal injury work.
Margary + Miller’s Southwold office will remain unaffected by the merger and will continue to run as it is.
Gotelee CEO Alistair Lang said the merger marked an exciting new phase of expansion for Gotelee, which has served the county for more than 130 years.
“This merger provides us with the opportunity to expand further into Suffolk and provide expert legal advice to even more clients,” he said.
“The firm has gone from strength-to-strength in recent years, with an expansion of the teams at our Hadleigh and Ipswich offices and with the headcount increasing by 50% in the last 2 years. And we’ve also had the successful opening of our office in Felixstowe.
“But as importantly, we have stayed true to our core values of always giving clients the highest levels of courtesy and service.
“Crucially, the full range of legal services provided by the Margary + Miller team will be maintained and indeed strengthened by the addition of some new faces.
“The two firms have long and proud histories and both share the same approach to delivering exceptional service. That commitment will only be enhanced by this merger.”
Stephen Leach, Director of Margary + Miller, comments ‘ We are delighted to have reached agreement with Gotelee to ensure the continued provision of service to our clients in and around Woodbridge and Felixstowe by merging those offices with Gotelee. The same people will provide the same service as always, simply under the Gotelee banner.
Earlier this year, Gotelee celebrated a significant milestone when its headcount surpassed 100 employees. It now stands at 125 staff.
Mr Lang said: “Gotelee prides itself on being deep rooted in our community and a key element of that approach is to be a sustainable business investing in the future and in our community – and the nurturing of local talent is a key ingredient in that mix.
“We are enthusiastic recruiters and want to grow our own lawyers and staff of the future from our own backyard.”
