Ipswich Headway Charity Cycle Ride
April means two things – unpredictable weather and the Headway Charity Cycle Ride. I recently had the experience of both.
Headway in Ipswich, Suffolk aims to help those living with and suffering from brain injuries and amongst other events, they hold a charity cycle ride in April each year.
Having taken part in the cycle ride a few years ago with my father’s company, I wanted to do the same this year representing Gotelee. Gotelee sponsor the event each year and I was keen to show my support for such a worthy cause.
This year there was the option of two routes, 30 or 40 miles. I, of course, (optimistically) chose the 40 mile route – I mean how hard could it be?!
I can’t speak for the other riders but hard work it was! Other than snow, we were hit with all weathers from bright sunshine to strong hail and wind! However, I pushed on through and after a few rest stops and with a lot of aching muscles, I completed the course in one, rather sore, piece!
Would I do it again? Definitely!
