Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority launches new Portal
From the 14th July anyone making an application online to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) will be invited to submit medical reports and other information such as photos through a new portal system.
For many this will be seen as a positive step to streamlining a slow and creaking system. Those who are technically minded and computer literate will no doubt welcome this as progress.
However, for many people, the prospect of making a claim to the CICA on their own is daunting enough without having to negotiate the online process and then the portal to download documents. This is especially the case since the CICA stopped accepting postal applications in 2012.
At Gotelee we have years of experience of presenting applications to the CICA and guiding clients through this technical area often on a conditional fee agreement (“no win, no fee”). If you or a family member have been the victim of a crime of violence you may be entitled to compensation from the CICA.
